TRAGEDY FOR CHARITY

The NYC Blood Bank has been working hard throughout the holiday season to raise money for the construction of a St. Jude Children's Hospital in Corcovado, Brazil. Founding members of the board took a special interest in the project and traveled down this past Friday to survey the final blueprints and details. The NYC Blood Bank refuses to make a statement, but it has been reported that on the way back to the United States extremely strong winds caused the plane to crash into the side of the Appalachian Mountains. Rescue workers didn't arrive on the scene until hours after the crash had taken place but the impact was so severe passenger survival past the initial impact is next to impossible.
Dorothea Rockefeller, Brooks Stewart, Cushing Carondolet, Nan Culter, Dashiell Van Horn, Esme Schlumberger, Edmund Oelrich, and Eliza Dupont were among the dead. Since no statements are being given as to who was all on the plane we can only speculate. Needless to say it is a sad day in NYC. The board of the NYC Blood Bank were fine individuals who graduated at the top of their class, great contributors to society.

We are assured plans for St. Jude are still in the works, and that the hospital wings will be named in honor of those who have passed in this horrific tragedy.
